Fire Danger “Hot”

There was a wildfire near our home last week.  When we came home in the afternoon, the air was visibly smokey.  Claire became unsettled and started biting me. I tapped her beak and said, “No, use your words.” She paused for a minute, looked at me and said, “hot.” ❤️🔥🌫

I taught her hot because she was climbing up on the stove, so she knows what it looks like, smells like, sounds like (cooking) & feels like (food temp). She can tell me when the room temperature feels too hot as well.

Sometimes cold is “hot” too and goodbye is “hello” 🙃 I’m trying to teach her to ask for “more” and say “please” instead of screaming, which seems to be more effective for her, so it’s a slow learning curve. 🤭🤫 She can’t always get the words out, but she understands everything.
